John D. Dunbar

Mr. Dunbar represents management in employment and labor law matters, including defense of administrative agency charges, jury and non‑jury trials, and opposition to union organizing campaigns.  For more than 40 years, he has provided legal services to national corporations as well as small‑ and mid‑sized local businesses.
 
Mr. Dunbar served in the United States Navy and, while on active duty, obtained the rank of Lieutenant.  Following active duty, he served in the Judge Advocate General Corps and retired as a Captain.

Representation of management before numerous administrative agencies as well as jury and non‑jury trials, including the defense of age, race, religious, sex, and disability discrimination actions; lawsuits arising under Section 301 of the National Labor Relations Act; and unfair practice labor charges, union representation cases, wage and hour actions, Family Medical Leave Act matters, and non‑compete agreements.  Representation of management in union organizing campaigns and arbitration cases, including obtaining state court injunctions against unions for misconduct in picketing.  Negotiation of collective bargaining agreements with unions in various industries.

Ozanam Home.  A facility which provides residential and day treatment programs for children and families dealing with emotional, behavioral, and learning disorders.  In his over 20 years’ service on the Board of Directors at Ozanam, he has filled many capacities, including Board Chairman.

Cornerstones of Care.  The parent organization of Ozanam, Gillis, Marillac, Spofford, and Healthy Families Counseling and Support, all agencies which serve the behavioral, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of at-risk children and their families in the Kansas City metropolitan area.  Mr. Dunbar has served on the Board of Directors of this organization, including two terms as Chairman of the Board.
